Years ago, during the early stages of development in District 2, a surge in construction necessitated a substantial workforce. Consequently, many people from the southwest migrated to the area in search of employment, leading to the construction of illicit, makeshift settlements in the unoccupied spaces of either delayed or abandoned projects. The standard of living was poor, as registration for permanent housing was unavailable, and most of the children in these areas were unable to attend school, instead spending their days playing in unsanitary environments.

Lantern offers an innovative solution by improving the quality of space where it is installed, ultimately raising the standard of living for children by providing them with opportunities for various activities such as studying, playing, and watching movies. Through these activities, Lantern hopes to keep children from engaging in harmful or risky behaviors.

Featuring a lightweight and adaptable design, Lantern can be modified to cater to different activities by adjusting its height and shape. Additionally, the structure can be easily disassembled and recycled when the need arises, making it a highly flexible and sustainable solution for informal settlements.

Nhiều năm trước, khi quận 2 bắt đầu phát triển, các tòa nhà được xây dựng liên tục, đòi hỏi số lượng lớn lao động. Do đó, nhiều người miền Tây đã đến đây làm việc và xây dựng các khu định cư tạm thời trái phép trên các khu đất trống của các dự án chưa triển khai hoặc các dự án bị đình chỉ trong thời gian dài. Cuộc sống ở đây rất khó khăn, không có giấy tờ đăng ký tạm trú nên hầu hết trẻ em ở đây không được đến trường mà chỉ chơi đùa xung quanh khu phố. Các hoạt động sinh hoạt hàng ngày diễn ra trong môi trường không hợp vệ sinh.
